Thank you for choosing to be a member of the Fairfax Bar Association! Here are the membership types we offer and a brief description of each:
Regular Attorney Member: Membership type for a lawyer in good standing of the Virginia State Bar
Associate Attorney Member: Membership type for a lawyer in good standing of another State Bar
Law Student Member: Membership type for those currently enrolled in law school or reading for the Bar, or have graduated within the past year and are studying for the Virginia State Bar examination.
Emeritus (Retired Attorney) Member: Membership type for any Regular or Associate Member who has been a member in good standing of the FBA for fifteen (15) years and who has retired from the active practice of law with the sole exception of providing pro bono legal services to the indigent may become an Emeritus Member
Affiliate Member: Membership type for a non-lawyer who is currently employed as a paralegal, legal secretary, or law firm administrator
Paralegal Student Member: Membership type for any non-lawyer who is not an accredited paralegal who is currently enrolled in and actively attending an approved ABA accredited paralegal studies program at an accredited college or university as defined by the U.S. Department of Education.
While Fairfax Bar Association dues are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes, they may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses, subject to restrictions imposed as a result of association lobbying activities. FBA estimates that the nondeductible portion of your dues allocable, to include FY2015 expenses which must be included for tax re-porting purposes, is 13.5%. Please consult with your tax advisor.
