Association members have the opportunity to participate in ten working committees and a variety of programs. The purpose of Committees shall be to further the objectives of, and promote active participation in, the Fairfax Bar Association; to enhance communication and the exchange of ideas and information on issues which affect the practice of law in Fairfax County and the Commonwealth of Virginia; to foster unity between members of the Committee by providing a forum where Committee members can share research, source materials and experiences; to sponsor programs and projects of special interest and relevance to the members of the Committee and the FBA; and to conduct continuing legal education programs and undertake other activities which shall enhance the competence and skills of lawyers and improve their ability to deliver the highest quality of professional legal services.
Committee membership is free for FBA members and offers endless opportunities for personal and professional growth regardless of your involvement level. FBA Sections are specialty groups that focus on a unique area of law or business―allowing for more in-depth examination of issues, regulations, and local trends. Nearly 900 members currently belong to one or more of the Bar's 14 sections, which cover a wide array of practice areas from family law to business law. Membership is $25 per each Section, with the sole exception of the Young Lawyers which is free for eligible participants.
